This Privacy Policy describes how SudokuDX ("we", "us", or "our"), operated by Adam Yonkolowitz, collects, uses, and shares information about users of our mobile app, website, and related services (the "Service"). This policy is designed to meet Google Play's data safety and privacy requirements. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: email address, display name, and authentication provider details when you create an account or sign in (including via Google sign-in).
  • Gameplay information: puzzle progress, saved games, scores, completion times, hints used, mistakes, and leaderboard entries.
  • Purchase and entitlement information: transaction identifiers, purchase receipts, and Pro subscription or lifetime entitlement status.
  • Device and technical information: device type, operating system version, app version, IP address, and basic crash or usage telemetry used to operate and improve the Service.
  • Settings and preferences: app settings such as theme, display options, and notification preferences stored locally or synced to your account.

2. Data Types, Purpose, and Sharing (Data Safety Summary)

The table below matches our Google Play Data safety declaration. All collected data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

  • Personal info — email address, display name: collected, linked to you, required for account creation and sign-in. Used for app functionality and account management. Not shared with third parties for advertising. You can request deletion.
  • App activity — in-app actions and game progress: collected, linked to you, used for app functionality (saving progress, leaderboards, trophies, battles) and analytics.
  • Financial info — purchase history / entitlement status: collected, linked to you, used for app functionality (unlocking Pro). Payment card details are handled solely by Paddle or Google Play Billing and are never received or stored by us.
  • App info and performance — crash logs, diagnostics, page performance metrics: collected, used for analytics and stability.
  • Device or other IDs / IP address: processed by our hosting and backend providers for security, fraud prevention, and abuse rate-limiting.

We do not collect location, contacts, photos, files, messages, calendar, health, or audio data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising or marketing profiles, we do not sell personal information, and we do not display third-party ads or use advertising identifiers.

2a. Device Permissions

SudokuDX requests only internet access (and, on Android, network state) to load the game and sync your account. It does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage, SMS, phone, or accessibility permissions, and it does not access any restricted or sensitive permission categories.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its features.
  • To authenticate users, save progress across devices, and display leaderboards.
  • To process purchases, verify entitlements, and grant access to SudokuDX Pro features.
  • To monitor app health, diagnose crashes, and ensure the security of the Service.
  • To communicate with you about your account or support requests.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the following categories of service providers:

  • Authentication and backend services: our hosting, database, and authentication providers used to run the Service.
  • Payment processors: purchases are processed by Paddle or Google Play Billing, which collect payment details under their own privacy policies. We do not store your full payment card information.
  • Legal compliance: when required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights and safety.

5. Google Play Billing and Purchases

In-app purchases on Android are processed by Google Play Billing. Google may collect and process information in accordance with its own privacy policy. We receive only the information needed to verify and grant your purchase or entitlement.

SudokuDX Pro is a one-time, non-recurring purchase. On the web it is sold through Paddle.com as Merchant of Record; on Android it is sold through Google Play Billing. Refund requests for Google Play purchases are handled under Google Play's refund policy; web purchases are handled by Paddle. See our Refund Policy.

6. Data Security

We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on stored data. No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or request deletion by email. 8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access, update, or delete your account information through the app's settings.
  • Request a copy of your personal data or ask us to delete it by contacting us.
  • Opt out of non-essential communications by adjusting your notification settings.
  • Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may also object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

8a. Connected AI Agents (MCP)

If you choose to connect an AI assistant to your account, that assistant can access only the data the tools you authorise expose (your profile, stats, scores, and game state). Access requires your explicit sign-in approval, every call is logged, and you can revoke any connected agent at any time in Settings.

9. Children's Privacy and Families Policy

SudokuDX is rated for a general audience and is not designed for or primarily directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), we do not use ad networks or behavioural advertising, and we do not knowingly target children with promotional content. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under that age, we delete it as soon as possible. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided us information may contact us for deletion.

10. International Data Transfers

Our backend, database, hosting, and payment providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
